Freshman Mike Gibbons (Ringwood, NJ) was named Rookie of the Week (01/06/09) by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Gibbons averaged 16.5 points in Suffolk's two games in the Jim Beaudry Classic hosted by the University of New England.

In the first game, Gibbons knocked in six three pointers en route to 20 points on the evening. Suffolk was defeated by the University of New England 92-76. In the consolation game, Gibbons added 13 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds to help lead the Rams to a 67-73 victory over UMaine-Fort Kent.

Currently, Gibbons is second on the team with a 10.5 points per game average for the season. A sharpshooting freshman, Gibbons leads the Rams with 22 field goals made from 3-point land.

Suffolk begins the second half of the season Wednesday evening (01/07) when they host conference rival St. Joseph's College (ME). The game starts at 6:00 pm at the Regan Gymnamsium.
