BOSTON – The Suffolk men's soccer program unveiled its 2017 schedule, with eight game set to be played at East Boston Memorial Park.
The 2017 campaign – Suffolk men's soccer 34th overall and third with James Boden on the bench – gets underway with back-to-back home tilts on Labor Day Weekend. Opening Day pits the Rams against the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Saturday, Sept. 2, before the Framingham State Rams visit East Boston memorial Park the following day.
A midweek match at Emerson Wednesday, Sept. 6 serves as the final prep before the blue-and-gold open GNAC action Saturday Sept. 9 when Albertus Magnus comes to Eastie.
After hosting Mount Ida, Saturday, Sept. 16, the Rams see-saw with away and home events, stop by Johnson & Wales (Sept. 20) and MIT (Sept. 27), while entertaining new conference competition Regis (Sept. 23) and Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sept. 30) to close out September.
The Rams will be on the road for the first three matches of October, traveling to Anna Maria (Oct. 4), Emmanuel (Oct. 7) and Rivier (Oct. 11). The third-annual Rams Fan Fest is set for the Saturday, Oct. 14 showdown versus Norwich, with the contest also serving as Suffolk's Senior Day.
Suffolk wraps up its regular-season league ledger at Lasell Tuesday, Oct. 17, before using non-conference action at Lesley (Oct. 22) and versus Fitchburg State (Oct. 24) to prep for the GNAC Tournament.
Boden welcomes back a veteran squad highlighted by reigning Rookie of the Year and all-league third-team selection from last season Jarrett Davis, fellow third-teamer Christian Restrepo and second-team selection Jordan Casey. The trio looks to lead Suffolk to its fourth consecutive trip to the conference post-season and 10th trip in the last 11 seasons.
