THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 4 | Framingham State 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (13-7-1) | Framingham State (5-16-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Suffolk grabbed a 1-0 lead at the midway point of the first period. A face-off was set up in Framingham's zone on 4-on-4. Nolan Leonard won the battle at the dot, Josh Milso picked it up at the blue line and dumped it back towards Leonard. The sophomore center took it from the point towards the right side of the cage where he found a waiting Aidan O'Connell in front. Leonard centered a pass that O'Connell quickly finished for the first goal of the night.
- The Rams extended their advantage to two with less than a minute to go before the intermission. Owen Hodgett crossed the puck across the blue line to Ralph Berry, who took it in between the face off dots and sniped a shot by Isak Saldjoughi to pad the margin to 2-0. O'Connell picked up an assist on the second goal of the night.
- After a scoreless second, Framingham State broke onto the board 40 seconds into the third. Grig Kaagan caught Max Banoun off guard to slice the distance down to one, 2-1.
- The one-goal gap was short lived as a Boston Rams' response came three minutes later. Milso picked up the pieces of a Berry attempt, and the rebound made it 3-1 Suffolk.
- The blue-and-gold extended the edge to three at the 8:49 mark when O'Connell struck for the second time on the night. Milso stole the puck on the penalty kill in the neutral zone and set up a 3-on-1 with Leonard and O'Connell. Leonard had the first shot that was denied, but Saldjoughi could not stop the second off O'Connell's stick that gave Suffolk a 4-1 cushion.
- Scott Burarin answered for Framingham 12 seconds later in transition to restore a two-goal margin with just under 11 minutes to play in regulation.
- Framingham made things interesting as Burgarin converted his second of the game at the 16:54 mark thanks to help from Robert Bernier and Brent Scott to cut Suffolk's lead back to one, 4-3.
- Suffolk managed to hold off any other comeback attempts from the visiting Rams, who pulled the netminder from the cage for an extra skater over the final 58 seconds as Banoun made three stops.
