The Suffolk University Baseball team (30-11) was well-represented on the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division-III All-New England team. Senior pitcher Tim Doyle (Milton, MA) was a first-team selection, while senior pitcher Dan Delia (Boston, MA) and junior catcher Bobby Barrett (Milton, MA) were third team selections.
Doyle, who became the Rams top starter down the stretch finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record in eight starts. Doyle's 2.18 earned run average was among the nation's best, while opponents only managed a .232 batting average against the righty. Doyle was also named a first team All-Conference selection by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Doyle was the winner in game one of the GNAC Tournament as he pitched the Rams to a 4-2 victory over Albertus Magnus College as the Rams went on to win the conference title. Doyle was also named GNAC Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season after defeating Ripon College (Wi.) 4-1 on Suffolk's annual spring break trip in Winter Haven, Fla. Doyle finishes his career with a 12-6 record in 21 starts on the mound for the Rams.
Delia was named an NEIBA for the second year in a row (2nd team selection in 2008). Delia was the Rams' most consistent pitcher in 2009 appearing in 16 games, finishing the season with a record of 7-2 with three saves and an ERA of 3.22. Delia picked up the 20th win of his career defeating Brandeis, 10-2 on May 2nd. He also set the career record for most appearances (58) on the mound for Suffolk's baseball program. Delia was also named a GNAC All-Conference second team selection. Prior to the season, Delia was voted a team captain by his teammates.
Barrett finished 2009 with a .374 batting average, seven home runs and 68 RBI. The 68 runs batted in set a new Suffolk single season record. He also amassed 103 total bases that included 14 doubles, five triples on 58 totals hits on the season. Barrett also appeared in 30 games behind the dish for the Rams, guiding the Suffolk pitching staff to a GNAC-best 4.32 team ERA. Barrett was named a first-team All-Conference selection by the GNAC as well as being named to the GNAC Tournament team.
