Rams fall to MIT

Jimmy Bartolotta, Billy Johnson and Eric Zuk combined for 85 of their team’s 99 points in a 99-56 victory for the MIT Men’s Basketball team (4-2) over host Suffolk University (0-4) Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium.

Bartolotta netted a game-high 30 points on 10-16 shooting from the field and 6-7 shooting from three-point land. He also finished with a game high six assists and added five rebounds. Johnson finished his afternoon with 28 points on 7-14 shooting and 12-16 shooting from the free-throw line. He finished with a game high seven rebounds. Zuk rounded out the trio with 27 points, including 19 in the second half. He was 8-12 from the field and 5-6 from three. Zuk also added five rebounds.

Sophomore guard Mike Fleming (Exeter, NH) led Suffolk with an impressive 17 points off the bench on 6-10 shooting and three 3-pointers in 26 minutes of play.

Suffolk fought hard early in the first half, taking a 12-6 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but Bartolotta and Johnson each dropped in 16 points to outscore the Rams by 15 for the remainder of the half and take a 43-32 lead at halftime.

MIT began the second half with a 17-4 run in the first six minutes to take a 60-36 lead. The Engineers led by 43 points twice in the second half.

The Rams look to rebound Thursday night when they travel to Dorchester to take on cross-town opponent UMass-Boston in a 7 p.m. start.
