Boston, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus Falcons (12-13 overall, 8-4 GNAC) topped the Suffolk University Rams (14-11, 7-5 GNAC), 82-70 in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons had four players reach double-digits in points, including two players posting double-doubles on the day.
Junior Kendrea Walker (New Haven, Conn.) posted 20 points to go along with 20 rebounds as the Falcons cruised to victory. Senior Krystal Bryant (New Haven, Conn.) also posted a double-double recording 17 points along with 14 rebounds.
Sophomore Kristina Hayner (Bedford, N.H) posted a career-high 24 points in the losing effort, as she was 12-13 from the free throw line, and made six field goals. Sophomore Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) also had 12 points for the Rams, while freshman Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) netted 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
The story of the game was the athleticism of the Falcons who out-rebounded the Rams 55-33 total in the game. Albertus made the most of their opportunities as well outscoring the Rams 16-3 on second chances
Sophomore Elizabeth Williams (New Haven, Conn.) also scored 19 on the day for the Falcons going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, while junior Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) put home 17 points, including blocking four shots on the day.
The game was the regular season finale for both teams as they move towards the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs starting next week. Seedings will be announced later this weekend.
Prior to the game, the Suffolk University Women's Basketball team honored their lone senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Me.) who will be graduating this spring.
