BOSTON – Suffolk baseball sophomore Harry Painter has been named a 2023 d3Baseball.com Preseason First-Team All-American, the online publication announced.
The 2023 d3Baseball.com Preseason All-American Teams feature a look at the best players entering the season. Individuals are chosen from the previous year's All-America and all-region nominations.
The 16th edition of the list features a remarkable mix of 45 talented players representing 42 teams across the nation and are chosen from previous year's All-America and all-region nominations. Painter is one of three student-athletes to represent the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as Endicott saw a pair of players, Caleb Shpur and Nicolas Notarangelo, collect second-team and third-team status, respectively.
A native of Essex, Massachusetts, Painter is just the third-ever Ram to earn the recognition since the inception of the award in 2008. He is the first-ever Suffolk student-athlete to take a spot on the preseason's first-team as Brady Chant's and Jake Cintolo's preseason distinction in 2018 and 2014 came with spots on the second-team.
Painter enters his second season in a Suffolk jersey after a standout sophomore season where he became the program's 10th All-American following a 64-hit, 47-RBI campaign behind a .403/.461/.742 slash line. The CCC Co-Player of the Year recorded 118 total bases thanks to 12 dingers, which put him one bomb shy of the Rams single-season record of 13 homers held by Tamayo Manzanillo in 2005. The all-region first-team selection hit successfully in all, but one of the blue-and-gold's 43 games a year ago.
Suffolk's 2023 season is set to get underway in early March that will tune-up the Rams for their annual Spring Training trip to warmer weather.
