Baseball Receives CCC Weekly Honors: Roberts Pitcher, Flynn Rookie

CCC RELEASE

BEVELRY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball scooped up a pair of weekly accolades from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) after a 3-1 week. Garret Roberts was named CCC Pitcher of the Week and Colin Flynn was tabbed CCC Co-Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Roberts threw his way to the weekly distinction behind his first victory on the bump this season. The senior from Stratham, New Hampshire, logged a one-run, two-hit, five-walk, five-strikeout effort over 6.0 innings of work in the Rams' CCC debut, a 7-4 win at Nichols.

Flynn, meanwhile, compiled a .357/.438/.429 slash line with five hits, including one double, two RBI, seven runs scored and four stolen bases. The outfielder rewrote his career-high numbers in the wild 15-13 win at WPI with a personal-best three hits and three runs to go along with one RBI and one stolen base. In game one at Nichols, the Dorchester, Massachusetts, local tied a career-high three runs scored and matched personal-best in three swiped bags to contribute to the CCC-opening win. In the nightcap with the Bison he tallied one hit, one run and one RBI to help secure the sweep. Flynn shares the award with Endicott's Brendan Walsh.

Roberts became the first Ram in Suffolk baseball history to be named the CCC's Pitcher of the Week. He is the first Suffolk hurler to collect a weekly pitching recognition since Michael Muscarella was tabbed the Great Notheast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week (GNAC) March 9, 2020. Flynn, meanwhile, is the first Rams' rookie to take home CCC Rookie of the Week since Nick Reiser did so March 29, 2022. The multiple CCC weekly awards are a first for the blue-and-gold since Harry Painter and Reiser were named CCC Player and CCC Rookie of the week, respectively, March 29, 2022. The two weekly CCC awards ties a program record, which was set in 2022.

The pair look to lead Suffolk into a hectic stretch with five games over five days. Action starts this afternoon at No. 1 Endicott at 3:30 p.m.
