BOSTON – The fifth seed Suffolk baseball team aims to survive and advance in the 2025 Conference of New England Tournament Thursday, May 8 when it plays third seed Hartford in an elimination contest. 

The game is slated to start 45 minutes after game one of the day, that features fourth seed Western New England and sixth seed Roger Williams. That outing is set to start at 9:30 a.m.

SUFFOLK IN THE CNE TOURNAMENT

  • The Rams are in the middle of their fifth trip and fifth in as many season in the CNE Tournament.

The fifth-seeded Suffolk baseball team stumbled in the first round of the 2025 Conference of New England Tournament to fourth seed Western New England, 11-1, Wednesday afternoon at North Field on the campus of Endicott College.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (14-24) looks to snap a two-game skid Thursday to keep its season going.  

Max Martin leads the Rams' bats with 40 hits, 29 RBI and 25 runs scored. Max Iorio has supplied 36 hits, 28 RBI and 25 runs. Sam Armbruster (37 H, 22 RBI, 15 R), Colin Flynn (39 H, 10 RBI, 20 R) and Chris Cimino (38 H, 21 RBI, 18 R) are consistent factors in the offensive output as well.  

Pierce Salbego will likely earn the nod tomorrow. He brings in a 3.36 ERA in 61.2 innings pitched over nine appearances, all starts, with 47 strikeouts to his credit. Jack Raimo (26.0 IP, 3.12 ERA, 10 K) could be called on out of the pen.  

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Hartford (19-21) opened the CNE Tourney with a 5-2 win over Roger Williams before it slipped to Nichols, 11-3.  

Jake Santiago (64 H, 35 RBI, 30 R) and JJ Romatzick (63 H, 36 RBI, 33 R) are powerful bats for Hartford with over 60 hits and 30 RBI apiece to pace the offense. 

Ryan Sheehy appears to be next up in the Hawks pitching rotation. He has assembled a 3.65 ERA over 56.2 innings with 74 punchouts to his credit. Jeffrey Blake (30.1 IP, 9.49 ERA, 16 K) is also a well-rested starter for Hartford's staff.  

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk split the twinbill with Hartford five days ago, May 3. The Rams walked-off the Hawks in extras in game one, 5-4, and fell in the nightcap, 10-6.
