DUDLEY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball fell to Nichols, 6-3, in the opening-game of a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader Saturday.

SCORE: Suffolk 3 | Nichols 6
RECORDS: Suffolk (7-24, 4-10 CNE) | Nichols (17-16, 7-7 CNE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sam Armbruster wore a pitch to get the second stanza underway, which helped Suffolk take 1 -0 lead. The Rams' senior worked his way around the bases on a Luke Thornton walk and scored on Sebastian Lampert's single up the middle.
- A two-run double by Kyle Birks in the bottom of the fourth gave Nichols' the upperhand before a one-run single off Jack Raymond's padded the host' advantage to a pair, 3-1.
- The Rams responded in the top of the fifth with one run behind a productive ground out by Jack Mihalchik. The junior brought around Mike Mullaney, who reached base on balls and advanced to third on a fielding mishap when Stephen Nardelli put the ball into play.
- The Bison managed to capitalize on two hits and Rams' error in the seventh inning to put the Rams in a 6-2 hole.
- Thornton started the top of the ninth and an error by Nichols' left fielder let the lead-off Ram reach second. A wild pitch advanced him 90-feet in time for Lampert to collect one RBI on a ground out to second. Down three, Suffolk had a chance as Mike Mullaney singled to keep the offense going, but Nichols did not let the blue-and-gold get any closer with a lud out to left followed by a game-ending pick-off at first.
