BEVERLY, Mass. – Luke Thornton of the Suffolk baseball team grabbed a spot on the Conference of New England (CNE) Third-Team, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The Berkley, Massachusetts product made his name known amongst conference counterparts in his freshman campaign as the Rams' everyday second baseman. Offensively, the right-handed hitter supplied 40 hits, good for third on the team, with 11 extra-base knocks. He brought in the second-most runs on the squad thanks to a .323/.424/.452 slash line and also sat on the team in runs scored (29) and stolen bases (8).
Defensively, the middle infielder put together a .946 field percentage with 70 putouts and 69 assists in 147 chances over 36 games played, all starts.
Thornton is the youngest Ram recognized by the conference since Colin Flynn earned a spot on the league's third-team as a rookie in 2024.
ON top of the all-conference honors, senior starting pitcher Anthony Ferreira was awarded a spot on the CNE Community Service Team, which recognizes student-athletes on every member institution squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community.
Since joining the CNE in 2021, Suffolk has collected 30 all-league honorees including one player of the year, four first-team, 12 second-team, 12 third-team and one team sportsmanship.
