Walters Tabbed CCC Rookie of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball's freshman Owen Walters was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after producing 9.0 points per game on a 47.4 connection rate from the field in a 1-1 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday.

In a 68-52 win over Colby Sawyer, Wednesday, Nov. 15 the 6-foot-x6 forward chipped in four points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal to help Suffolk start the year 2-0 for the second straight season.

Two days later in the 76-72 setback to Tufts, Walters had a career night with personal-best numbers in points (14) and assists (4). He shot 7-for-14 from the floor and grabbed one board. He was a crucial cog in helping limit the Jumbos to the fewest points against the Rams since a 71-64 Suffolk setback Nov. 27, 2001.

Walters is the first Suffolk student-athlete to scoop up a weekly award from the CCC this season. He is the first Ram to collect a CCC weekly distinction since Keenan Robertson was named the conference's best player over a seven-day stretch Jan. 3, 2023. Rookie wise, Walters if the first freshman to earn CCC Rookie of the Week since Robertson earned the feat Feb. 21, 2022.

Walters and the Rams are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday Nov. 21 when Emerson stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 7:30 p.m. Pre-Thanksgiving action.
