THE COURSE
Tedesco Country Club is a traditional New England golf course with tight fairways and small, sloping greens with interesting undulations.
The challenging layout and outstanding conditions have warranted Tedesco being host to several Massachusetts Open Championships, Men's state Amateur Championships, including the 2012 Championship, and WGAM Championships. The club also hosted Stage 1 of the PGA TOUR qualifying and LPGA TOUR event.
THE COMPETITION
All nine CNE members that sponsor men's golf will compete in the championship.
Roger Williams is the reigning championship, while Endicott, who is ranked 38 in the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings presented by Clippd, is the favorite to capture the crown. Gordon will serve as host for the 2024 Championship with Hartford playing for a conference crown for the first time in its school's history. Wentworth, Western New England, Nichols, the University of New England, Roger Williams and Suffolk will take the course on the North Shore as well.
SUFFOLK AT CNE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Rams played for their first CCC title in April 2021, the last time the conference did not have a fall qualifying event and all league teams competed for the conference crown. That year, Suffolk finished seventh in the eight-team field.
The next two seasons, Suffolk secured its spot in the CCC Championships by qualifying in the fall tournament. In 2022, the Rams secured third at the championships and last year the blue-and-gold placed fourth.
Last season, Suffolk finished fourth in the eight-team field as the championship went back to an all-inclusive tournament with every conference member competing.
Individually, Mauro Stanchieri put together the best individual performance of a Ram at the conference championship with a fifth-place performance in 2022. He shot a 153. A year later, Cameron Sinopoli shot a 153 as well to be the second-ever Suffolk golfer to put together a top-10 finish at the league meet with a seventh-place performance.
Last year, Sinopoli set the program-best 18-hole conference championship mark of 75. He finished with a 153, which ties Suffolk's 36-hole individual best at the league championships, which has been achieved three times, twice by Sinpoli (2022, 2023) and once by Stanchieri in 2021).
RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is sending seniors Jonathan Donovan, Jake Zirlin and Vijay Sakuru, junior Christopher Sinopoli, freshman Michael Gallagher to compete for the conference crown.
WHAT'S UP FOR GRABS?
The winner of the 36-hole championship event will be named the 2024 CNE Golf Champion and earn the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III.
