Men’s Golf Sits in Fifth at CNE Championships After Day 1

RESULTS 

MARBLEHEAD, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf holds fifth place at the 2024 Conference of New England Championships after the first day of play at the Tedesco Country Club. 

The Rams combined for a team card of 317 after the first 18 holes of the conference championships.  

Just one stroke separates the top two spots. Gordon, who is hosting the championship, leads the way with a 298 with Endicott right on the Fighting Scots heels with a 299. Roger Williams and Hartford round out the top four with a 304 and 308, respectively. 

Jonathan Donovan and Michael Gallagher, both two-sport athletes at Suffolk, are in an eight-way tie for 11th. The senior and freshman, both of whom play multiple sports at Suffolk, shot a 77 (+7).  

Senior Jake Zirlin is just two strokes behind his teammates in a share of 22nd. 

Junior Christopher Sinopoli is in a two-way tie for 35th with an 84 and senior Vijay Sakuru completes the Rams on the course in sole possession of 38th with an 86.  

The Rams wrap up competition at the league championship tomorrow. Suffolk tees off at 9:20 a.m. with the conference title on the line and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship up for grabs. On top of the team glory, individuals are fighting for all-conference accolades, which will be awarded to the top 12 golfers on the course.
