O’Brien Selected CNE Player of the Week

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's ice hockey continued its strong run in Conference of New England (CNE) weekly honors as Joe O'Brien was named CNE Player of the Week following a key performance in the Rams' weekend home-and-home series split with Curry.

O'Brien helped Suffolk to a 1-1-0 week against the Colonels, highlighted by the program's first win over Curry in 14 tries. The Rams opened the weekend with a decisive 5-0 shutout victory where O'Brien scored one goal and added one assist to pace the offense. He followed up with a helper in Saturday's 4-1 setback, finishing the series with three points.

The honor marks the second weekly award of O'Brien's career after he was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week on Oct. 31, 2023. He becomes the fourth Ram to earn CNE Player of the Week recognition this season and the second in as many weeks, joining Nolan Leonard (Feb. 13, 2026). Dimitri Voyatzis (Feb. 2, 2026) and Aidan O'Connell (Jan. 20, 2026) also captured the accolade earlier this season.

With O'Brien's selection, Suffolk's CNE weekly award total climbs to 11 on the year.

The Rams now turn their attention to postseason play as they host Johnson & Wales in the CNE First Round Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
