BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer will have its work cut out Wednesday, Sept. 3 when it welcomes No. 1 Amherst to James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.

Suffolk men's soccer fell in a 2-0 hole it could not climb out of to fall to Brandeis, 2-1, in the Rams home debut Sunday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is 0-1-0 on the year after it slipped to Brandeis, 2-1, Sunday.  

Zach Vlachos was responsible for the Rams lone goal in the outing versus the Judges. That strike was set-up by Christian Gardner

Ian Caldwell played in net against Brandeis. He sports a 2.00 GAA and .500 save percentage.  

MAMMOTHS MENTIONABLES
Amherst, who sits first on the preseason United Soccer Coaches rankings, will open its 2025 season Wednesday. 

Eighteen (18) players return from last season's 2024 National Championship team including United Soccer Coaches' Fourth-Team All-American Mohammed Nuhu, who led the Mammoths' scoring unit a year ago with 11 goals and eight assists. Michael Cherico (6g, 1a), Obed Opoku (1g, 3a) and Riley Priddy (1g, 3a) were usual suspects for the office a year ago as well. 

Juan Perez (5-1-0, 0.56 GAA, .750 save %), Trey Sheppard (6-1-3, 0.58 GAA, .833 save %) and Lucas Searl all saw time at keeper for Amherst in 2024. Freshman Spencer Kreitzer was brought in to add depth in net.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Amherst renewed a rivalry a year ago, meeting for the second time. 
  • Last season, the blue-and-gold fell to then-No. 2 Amherst, 4-0. 
  • The Rams are 0-2-0 all-time against the Mammoths. 
  • The series has been split between home (0-1-0) and road (0-1-0) bouts. 
  • Suffolk will entertain the Mammoths for the first time since Sept. 21, 2008, a 7-0 setback. 
  • The Rams have never scored a goal against Amherst.

RAMFEST
All members of Ram Nation are invited by Suffolk University to East Boston Memorial Park Saturday, Sept. 27 for RamFest. 

RamFest is part of Suffolk Weekend, which brings together the entire University community. The weekend is the perfect opportunity for members of the Suffolk community and their families to reconnect or get acclimated with Suffolk, reminisce with old friends, make new ones and enjoy beautiful Boston in the fall. Following Rammy's Fun Run, the family friendly fan fest festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. An afternoon of community, entertainment and school spirit is in store. Event highlights include: 

  • A variety of food trucks with local favorites
  • Live performances by Suffolk University's house band The Common
  • Men's and Women's Soccer Games – support the Rams on their Senior Days! 
  • Cornhole Tournament – register with a teammate to or get paired day-of 
  • Axe Throwing and Gladiator Joust for some friendly competition
  • Yard games and airbrush pennants to round out the fun

Tickets are required to participate in RamFest and grants you access to food trucks and activities at the fields throughout the afternoon. Alumni, family and friends can purchase their $20 tickets here.
