BEVELRY, Mass. – Suffolk men's soccer picked up a pair of Conference of New England (CNE) weekly awards Monday afternoon following a 1-0-1 week on the pitch. Nathan Harlow was named CNE Defensive Player of the Week, while Mohamed Mehaya took home CNE Rookie of the Week.
Harlow, a London, England, product received the conference's best defensive player in a seven-day span after a four-save shutout effort in the Rams' CNE 2025 opener, a 2-0 win at Hartford. The victory was Suffolk's first road CNE-opener win in program history and kept the blue-and-gold's CNE opener record perfect (3-0-2).The weekly distinction is Harlow's fourth and marks the first time a keeper was recognized by the conference as the best defensive player since he himself picked up the nod Nov. 4, 2024.
Mehaya, meanwhile, potted the game-winner versus the Hawks. The East Boston, Massachusetts forward opened the week with his first collegiate goal in the Beantown battle at Emmanuel, a 2-2 draw. He is Suffolk's first rookie of the week since Francisco Valck Oct. 2, 2023.
The weekly accolades are the first of 2025 for the Rams and are the first since Diego Pierantozzi grabbed CNE Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 7, 2024. The duo is the first set of Suffolk student-athletes to receive weekly distinction in the span week since Pierantozzi and Harlow swept the league awards Sept. 25, 2023.
Suffolk is back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 16 when it welcomes Mass. Maritime to James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
