EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer picked up a 3-0 victory against Mass. Maritime Tuesday night at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. The win keeps the Rams September ledger unblemished and handed the Buccaneers their first loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Suffolk wasted no time to get on the board as Diego Pierantozzi put one away 3:15 into the action. The score happened in a flash as Ford Lee sent a cross to Piernatozzi, who headed it home to give the host a 1-0 edge early.
- Mass. Maritime came close to even the score halfway through the opening frame as the Buccaneers tested the junior with back-to-back attempts. Nathan Harlow stood tall as he denied both attempts to keep the visitors off the board.
- Harlow was tested once more in the opening half as Nichoalas Dias went on a breakaway. His high shot was knocked away by Suffolk's junior keeper on a punch save to send Suffolk into the locker room with a 1-0 cushion.
- A good penalty kick in the 61st minute by Mohamed Mehaya doubled the distance. The freshman drew a foul in the box for a PK against MMA's keeper Preston Joia. The East Boston native kicked a no doubter to the lower left to the net to make it 2-0 Suffolk.
- An extra insurance
- The blue-and-gold's backline came up huge at the 68:55 minute mark as Mass. Maritime caught Harlow out of position and put an attempt directly on target. Thankfully Javen Ironside came up with a team save to keep a zero on the visitor's side of things.
- MMA brought Tyler George into the goal with just over 10 minutes to go in the second stanza and Suffolk tested the fresh set of gloves late. The Rams peppered the netminder with three shots in the final three minutes and the final attempt poked through for the 3-0 margin. Dylan Cadavid was responsible or the added insurance off a feed from Mehaya.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Harlow earned the decision with a five-save performance.
- Joia took the loss despite a six-save effort.
- George locked up ap air of saves in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Mehaya paced Suffolk's scoring with one goal and one assist.
- Cadavid and Pierantozzi netted one goal each.
- Lee dished out one helper.
- Suffolk outshot Mass. Maritime, 21-17, including an 11-6 advantage in shots on target.
- The Rams took five corners compared to the Buccaneers two.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Rams are undefeated, 3-0-1, in September action this season.
- Suffolk and Mass. Maritime met for the 19th time dating back to 1989.
- The blue-and-gold beat MMA for the fifth straight meeting. In that span, Suffolk has outscored the Buccaneers 24-1.
