EAST BOSTON – Behind a late goal from Francisco Valck, Suffolk men's soccer earned a 2-1 Conference of New England win over Johnson & Wales Wednesday evening at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Suffolk struck first in the 10th minute as Diego Pierantozzi played a ball from the midfield down the right wing to Valck, who sent a cross across the face of goal for Mohamed Mehaya to tap in at the back post.
- JWU responded just 32 seconds later when Carlos Andrade intercepted a pass from a throw-in deep in Suffolk territory and slotted a shot into the bottom left corner.
- The match remained level until the 85th minute when Javen Ironside played a ball over the Wildcat backline to Valck, who cut outside and riffled home the game-winner to make it 2-1.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Nathan Harlow recorded three saves en route to his sixth win of the season.
- Alexander Nardolillo stopped five shots in the setback for the Wildcats.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Valck had a hand in both of Suffolk's strikes. The junior assisted one the first and put away the second.
- Mehaye netted one goal.
- Pierantozzi and Ironside provided one assist apiece.
- Suffolk outshot JWU 15-12, though the Wildcats held a slight 5-4 edge in shots on target.
- The Rams earned 10 corner opportunities to the Wildcats' three.
- Mehaya led Suffolk with five shot attempts and three shots on goal.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk's 11 wins are the most in a season since the 2010 campaign when the Rams went 11-8-1.
- The Rams and Wildcats met for the 24th time in the all-time series.
- Suffolk snapped a six-game skid to the Wildcats and improved to 9-14-1 all-time against JWU.
- The victory marked Suffolk's first over JWU since Sept. 27, 2014, a 2-0 victory.
- The blue-and-gold improved to 6-5-0 in Eastie versus the Wildcats.
- Bill Maddock managed his first game against the Wildcats.
- Valck extended his point streak to seven games, totaling five goals and six assists in that span.
- Pierantozzi has recorded a point in four straight games, posting four goals and one assists over that stretch.
- Mehaya tallied his 11th goal of the season and extended his point streak to three games.
- Ironside registered his first assist of the season.
