COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE | CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT 2025
BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer saw three student-athletes pick up College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in senior Matthew Belluardo, junior Ricardo Feliciani and sophomore Christian Gardner, the national organization announced Tuesday.
Presented by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.
All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 90 percent of a team's competition.
With the addition of this year's three honorees, Suffolk's men's soccer now has 20 Academic All-District nods in its record book, all of which have come in the last six years under Bill Maddock's guidance.
The Rams were joined by all, but one Conference of New England (CNE) institution – Curry (3), Endicott (4), Gordon (6), Hartford (2), Nichols (1), Roger Williams (6), University of New England (1) Wentworth (4), and Western New England (2) – on the list that featured 1,098 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer student-athletes.
The academic accolades come on the heels of a season in which Suffolk competed for the CNE Crown for the third time in program history and second straight season.
Belluardo, an undergraduate law student-athletes boasts a 3.96 GPA and had quite the athletic award hall as CNE Defensive Player of the Year and CNE Scholar-Athlete, both of which are a first in program history, on top of an All-CNE First-Team selection. The laurels come on a campaign in which he started all 19 games as the corner stone of the blue-and-gold's defensive unit. To go along with his performance on the defensive end, he contributed offensively as well with six points on two goals, including one game-winner, and two helpers.
The Mahwah, New Jersey native earned his third straight all-district distinction. He is the second member of Suffolk's men's soccer to have collected three Academic All-District recognitions and first since Taj Jensen accomplished the feat a year ago. The senior captain has moved onto the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members this week. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 16. Belluardo is one of three CNE student-athletes to advance to the Academic All-America ballot, as Hartford's Austin Murawski and Nichols' Derek Axon join Suffolk's Student-athlete.
Belluardo's fellow defender Feliciani holds a 3.736 GPA as an accounting major. The Second-Team All-CNE honoree, who hails from Weston, Florida, appeared in all 20 games, starting all, but one, and was instrumental to the Rams defense that limited foes to just 0.85 goals per game. The junior joins an elite group of Suffolk student-athletes with his second academic all-district recognition in as many years.
Gardner, a sophomore working towards his degree in finance, picked up his first CSC Academic All-District the first year he was eligible thanks to his unblemished 4.0 GPA. He became the program's first-ever CNE Elite 21 Award honoree earlier this year, which is presented to an individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standing among their peers. On the pitch, the midfielder contributed nine points on three goals and three assists. On top of this award, the Miami, Florida native earned a spot on the CNE Community Service Team.
