Men’s Track & Field Starts Winter Semester at USM Open II

GORHAM, Maine – Suffolk men's indoor track & field took its talents to the Costello Field House Saturday for the USM Open II to lift the lid on its spring semester schedule. 

RAMS RUNNDERS

  • Michael Nossek paced Suffolk's eight-runner contingent in the 55 as he finished third with a time of 6.64. Mohamed Mehaya (6.95), Connor Johnson  (6.97), Nolan Winslow (7.15), Emmett St. Pierre(7.20), Brendan Eddy (7.29), Cormac O'Brien (7.48) and Marco Gomez (7.52) donned the blue-and-gold in the event as well. 
  • The foursome of Winslow (24.82), Charlie Billard (24.86), Gomez (2.658) and O'Brien (27.1) made the half lap around the track in the 200.
  • St. Pierre registered. 54.07 in the 400 to claim sixth. Johnson's 54.99 was good for eighth and Tighe Hosman was one spot behind him with a 55.07. Eddy (56.88), Gomez (1:00.11) and O'Brien (1:02.49) made the one lap as well. 

HURDLER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hosman leapt to sixth in the 55 hurdles with an 8.47 finals performance.

JUMPERS JIST

  • Nico Carrillo cleared 1.69 meters in the high jump to share fifth.
  • Joshua Catino finished fifth in the pole vault with a 3.60-meter performance.
  • Mehaya (6.15) and Johnson (5.74) participated in the long jump and took fourth and ninth, respectively. 

THROWERS THOUGHTS

  • The trio of Elijah Brown (10.71), Connor Brown (9.92m) and Carrillo (9.84) heaved the shot put.
  • In the weight throw, George Mirogiannis (10.41) and Connor Brown (10.01) finished one after another in 11th and 12th, respectively.

RAMS RECORDS

  • Nossek notched a personal-best 6.64 in the 55.
  • St. Pierre logged a career-high 54.07 in the 400.
  • Both Elijah Brown (10.71) and Connor Brown (9.92m) produced PRs in the shot put.
  • The twosome of Mirogiannis (10.41) and Connor Brown (10.01m) recorded a career-best in the weight throw.

YOU'RE NEW HERE

  • Mehaya made his collegiate debut and competed in two events: 55 and long jump
  • Johnson, Winslow, St. Pierre and Gomez all ran the 55 for the first time in their collegiate careers.
  • Gomez competed in the 400 for the first time.
