BEVERLY, Mass. – Thomas Novy made the most of his senior season debut as Suffolk men's cross country's captain was tabbed Conference of New England (CNE) Co-Runner of the Week following his personal-best performance at the Cardinal Invitational.
Novy, who hails from Simsbury, Connecticut, came through the 8k finisher's chute in 25:42.9 to take 25th in the field of 114th at The Wes Fuhrman '05 Trails Cross Country Course. The Rams showing was the best of any CNE student-athlete on the course as the Gulls of Endicott joined Suffolk at Wesleyan's race.
The weekly recognition is the first for Novy this season and marks the second of his collegiate career as he was tabbed the league's best runner in a seven-day span Sept. 26, 2022. The weekly distinction is the first for Suffolk since Tim Barry took home the conference's runner of the week title Oct. 17, 2022.
Suffolk and Novy are set to return to action Friday, Oct. 4 at the Pre-National Championship at the Rose Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana.
