BEVERLY, Mass. – Tim Barry of the Suffolk men's cross country team raced his way to Conference of New England (CNE) Runner of the Week after his performance at the Pre-National Championships, the league office unveiled Monday afternoon.
Barry, a senior from Westborough, Massachusetts, ran a 25:21.67 8k at the Pre-National Championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, which will be the host of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships, at Rose Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana. His time was good for 37th in the field of 405. He was the only Suffolk student-athlete to claim a spot in the top 150.
The captain anchored the Rams to a 28th-place team performance in a field of 46 that featured nine nationally ranked teams.
The weekly accolade is the third of Barry's career, second runner of the week nod and first since he picked up the best runner over a seven-day span title Oct. 17, 2022. It is the second time this season a Suffolk student-athlete was selected as CNE Runner of the Week as Thomas Novy earned the distinction Sept. 23, 2024. It is the first time since 2022 that Suffolk has earned multiple weekly awards from the league.
Barry and the Rams are prepping for the Connecticut College Invitational, which is on tap Saturday, Oct. 19 in Waterford, Conn.
