NEW ORLEANS – After four weeks out of the East U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Suffolk men's cross country is back in the regional rankings in 10th, the national organization announced.
The ranking comes on the heels of a 20th-place performance by the Rams at the Connecticut College Invitational over the weekend that featured seven nationally ranked programs and 16 programs receiving regional recognition prior to the race.
Suffolk is one of two Conference of New England (CNE) programs featured in the Week 6 regional rankings as Roger Williams sits 10th on the Mideast Region list. The blue-and-gold is the only CNE institution to have both its men's and women's programs to receive regional distinction as the Rams' women's team is seventh in the East.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.
Suffolk will now turn its attention to the 2024 CNE Championships, that are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2 at Western New England in Springfield, Massachusetts.
