Softball Continues Homestand with GNAC Foes Regis, Rivier
In the midst of a 10 game homestand, the Suffolk softball team welcomes GNAC rivals Regis and Rivier to East Boston Memorial Park. The Rams will entertain the Pride Wednesday, April 11, before hosting the Raiders Thursday, April 12. Both games are set for 4 p.m. first pitches.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk softball team blanked Lesley, 1-0, in the nightcap of a two-game non-conference twinbill behind seven scoreless innings by senior pitcher Ali Yamakaitis Monday night at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has been on a tear as of late, rattling of seven consecutive triumphs to improve to 12-6 on the season.
Rookie Payton Sylvester has provided a spark all over the field. The rookie has team top numbers in every hitting category as she is batting .436 with 24 hits, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and four stolen bases. In the circle, she holds a 2.20 ERA, which is good for second on the squad, with 18 strikeouts through 28.2 innings.
Ashley Zulla (.417/20 H, 7 RBI, 13 R), McKenzie McGrath (.400/18 H, 7 RBI, 13 R) and Jaclyn Flint (.382/21 H, 12 RBI, 12 R) have also been consistent contributors for the Rams at the plate.
Taylor Holmes has anchored Suffolk's staff, which boasts a 2.93 ERA, as the senior RHP brings in an unbeaten 4-0 record with an ERA of 1.31 and 22 strikeouts. Ali Yamakaitis has also been solid inside the circle with 40.2 innings of action, a 3.96 ERA and a team-best 26 Ks.
PRIDE PICTURE
In its first season as a GNAC member, Regis sits 4-10 overall and 0-6 in conference competition. The Pride has yet to find the win column in the month of April as it heads into the midweek match on a six-game skid.
Kesley Grimard has been potent at the plate for the Pride with the junior outfielder sporting a slash line of .511/.521/.574 with 24 hits, one RBI and 12 runs scored. Ellery Rasmuseen brings in 18 hits on a .391 average for a team-best eight RBI and eight runs scored. Allie Pettilo completes all of Regis' batters hitting above .300 with a .317 average on 13 hits for six RBI and three runs scored.
Inside the circle, Regis has counted on Madi McLellan for the bulk of the work. The sophomore twirler has seen 68.1 innings, starting 12 of the Pride's 13 games. She owns a 4.61 ERA with 53 strikeouts.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk and Regis, new conference foes, renew a rivalry that dates back to the Rams' first season. The two teams will meet for the first time since 1999 on Wednesday night with the blue-and-gold looking to make a dent in the Pride's all-time series lead of 10-3.
EYES ON THE GAME
RAIDERS REVIEW
Rivier went 1-3 over the weekend to move to 8-14 overall and 3-5 against GNAC foes. Prior to visiting Suffolk Thursday, the Raiders will entertain Emmanuel Wednesday.
A quartet of Raiders that have played nearly every game this season are producing over .300 averages at the dish. Tayla Legrand's .371 leads the way and Taylor Rowsell's .365 falls in a close second. Mikayla Ramsdell (.339) and Kasey Smith (.311) complete the foursome. Legrand sits atop the team in hits (23) with the sophomore providing 11 RBI and 17 runs and an impressive 12 stolen bases. Rowsell is right behind with 19 hits, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. Ramsdell owns 20 hits, 11 RBI and 18 runs, while Smith has notched 19 hits, seven RBI, eight runs and 10 stolen bases.
Kellie Kennedy and Rowsell look to be Rivier's one-two punch in the circle Kennedy has started 11 games, worked 68.1 innings for a 4-7 record with 45 Ks and an ERA of 3.48. Rowsell, meanwhile has seen 41.1 frames and has put together a 3.73 ERA with 32 strikeouts.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk has won the last nine meetings with River to gain a 29-22 edge in the all-time series, which dates back to 1989.

COMING UP
Suffolk wraps up its homestand this weekend as it entertains Emmanuel and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). The Rams will first battle the Saints in their Coaches vs. Cancer game Saturday, April 14, before taking on the Blue Jays Sunday, April 15. Both contests are scheduled to begin at noon.
