Reyes Collects CCC Pitcher of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Kennedy Reyes of the Suffolk softball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week honors for her performance in the circle in a 7-0 shutout win over Wentworth March 27, the league office Monday.

Reyes was a crucial part to the Rams' conference-opening 2-0 weekend. The righty from Taunton, Massachusetts, put together a five-hit, one-walk, three-strikeout complete-game shutout over the Leopards in the twinbill's nightcap to keep the blue-and-gold's league record perfect.

The complete-game is the ninth of the junior's career, while the shutout is the twirler's second in her collegiate career, first since a complete-game performance in a 2-0 triumph over Western New England March 30, 2019.

Reyes will go down in history as the first-ever Suffolk Athletics student-athlete to pick up CCC weekly recognition. Suffolk University Athletics made the shift to the CCC officially in July 2020, however, the 2021 spring seasons are the first to compete in true league fashion to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The weekly honor is the first of Reyes' collegiate career. She is the first Suffolk hurler to receive a weekly nod since Payton Sylvester swept GNAC Corvias Pitcher and Rookie of the Week May 1, 2018.

Reyes and the Rams are back in action this weekend with a midweek trip to Gordon on tap Wednesday, March 31. Game one has a 2:30 p.m. first-pitch.
