Softball Selected Sixth in CCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the second time in as many seasons, Suffolk softball has been predicted to finish sixth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference per the conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll, conducted by the league's 10 coaches.           

Suffolk garnered 56 points to finish just outside the top five, just one point behind Wentworth's 57 and ahead of Nichols (40), Roger Williams (40), Gordon (23) and Curry (11).  

Endicott was a near unanimous vote to claim the CCC crown for the fourth straight season as the Gulls gather eight five-place picks for 98 points. Western New England slid into second as the Golden Bears received the remaining two first place nods for 92 points. 

The University of New England (70) and Salve Regina (63) finished third and fourth, respectively. 

Suffolk, who has made the CCC postseason field in each of its two seasons in the league, looks to capture its first CCC Title in program history and will do so under second-year head coach Janet Maguire. Her squad will be anchored by fifth-year centerfield Caitlin Murphy as well as senior infielders Ally Cifaratta and Savannah Scripterwith the reining CCC Rookie of the Year Jolie Quintana back in the fold as well. 

The Rams are six days away from first pitch of their 2023 campaign, which gets underway at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Thursday, March 9 versus Iowa Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m.
