BEVERLY, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released the 2024 Softball Coaches' Preseason Poll Thursday morning and according to the panel of the nine CCC head coaches, Suffolk softball is slated to finish seventh.
The Rams, who will begin a new era under first-year head coach Megan Cook, picked up 28 points in the poll to slid into seventh ahead of Roger Williams (24) and Curry (13) and one point shy of Gordon (29).
Three-time reigning CCC Champion Endicott was a preseason favorite. The Gulls garnered seven of the possible nine first place picks for 79 points to sit atop the preseason predictions. Western New England received two first-place nods to sit second with 74 points. Wentworth (63), Nichols (53) and the University of New England (42) rounded out the top five.
Cook's squad features a mix of experience and newcomers. Suffolk, who is in the hunt for its first CCC crown, will be led by All-CCC second-team honoree Ava Brandow, as well as returners Catherine Carignan and Ella Turnbull.
The Rams are 29 days away from first pitch of the 2023 campaign that gets underway at The Spring Games in Central Florida, March 8-15.
