CLAREMONT, Calif. – Suffolk softball suffered its first setback of the 2026 season as Claremont Mudd Scripps blanked the Rams, 9-0, in five innings in the opening outing of a double feature Sunday afternoon at Athena Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Athenas' advantaged started early as they put the Rams in a 3-0 hole after the first inning.
- Suffolk's offensive chances were limited in its next two turns at the plate as the blue-and-gold batters went down in order.
- CMS extended the margin to seven as it used five hits and one Rams' fielding mishap to push the gap to 7-0 in the bottom of the third.
- The Athenas put the game away with two more in the bottom of the fourth for the 9-0 final.
