Softball Falls in Game Two to Hartford, 8-2

REVERE, Mass. – Suffolk softball dropped the second half of its Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader to Hartford on Saturday at Griswold Field, 8-2 

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Hartford 8
RECORDS: Suffolk (15-14, 6-6 CNE) | Hartford (15-13, 8-6 CNE) 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Hartford grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Adelie Beebe's long out in foul territory scored Alina Weaver. Weaver singled and worked her way to third on a Katrina Baran base on balls and wild pitch. 
• The Hawks lengthened their lead to 4-0 in the top of the third behind four hits and one Rams' error. 
• A two-run shot by Eryn Coyle extended the edge to 7-0 in the top of the sixth. 
• Suffolk eliminated the shutout in the home half of the sixth when Claire Basaldua collected a RBI on a sac fly that put the Rams on the board, 7-1. 
• A lead-off dinger Anita Farkash in the seventh restored the seven-run margin in the Hawks' favor. 
• Suffolk pulled a run back in the bottom half after Roma Braid singled then advanced on a wild pitch before Ava Lanza brought her home. The Rams grounded out the side and the Hawks took the contest 8-2.

PITCHERS PICTURE

• Catherine Carnigan went 2.1 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs in her collegiate debut.
• Cynthia Rucinski relieved Carnigan and pitched the remaining 4.2 innings, conceding three earned runs on six hits and three strikeouts.
• Ella Zobel went 6.0 innings and surrendered only two hits and one earned run with six strikeouts. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING 

• Braid and Still recorded one hit and one run each.
• Both Lanza and Basaldua tallied one RBI 
• Hartford outhit Suffolk 10-2.

NOTEWORTHY

• Carignan made her pitching debut.   
• Still has now produced a hit in 13 straight games. She has 18 hits ovrer that span.
