The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (3-3 overall)held on for a 70-64 victory at Curry College on Thursday evening. The Rams were led by freshman Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, NH) who posted a season-high 15 points on the evening. Sophomore Julianne Conrad (West Bridgewater, MA) also chipped in with 14 points while senior Mara Dreiser (Port Ewen, NY) had 11 points to pace the Rams.
At one point in the first half the Rams had as big a margin as 15 points, as Suffolk went on a 10-0 early in the game. Curry managed to chip away at the deficit and had a 6-point lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game.
Vienneau would hit a layup with 3:32 remaining on a pass from sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, MA) to give the Rams the lead, 62-61. Curry would tie the game at 62-62 when Carolyn Houston connected on a free throw.
Conrad would grab her seventh defensive rebound of the game with :32 seconds remaining and hit both of her free throws to give the Rams a two-point edge, 64-62 as they would not look back from there.
Vienneau would later hit two from the line, and senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, ME) went 4-for-4 on free throws grabbing two defensive rebounds for the Rams to seal the victory in the game's final 12 seconds.
The Rams are back on the court on Saturday as they host Lesley University at 1:00pm at the Regan Gymnasium.
