Women's Hoops Pick Up 5th Straight Win

Boston,Mass. - The Suffolk University Women's Basketball picked up their fifth win in a row topping the Lasell College Lasers, 63-48 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) notched her third double-double of the season posting 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Rams now move to 12-8 on the season, and 6-2 within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Sophomore Kristina Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) finished the game with 14 points, scoring 12 of them in the first half to pace the Rams to a commanding 34-22 lead going into the half. Senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Me.) led all rebounders with 13 while also chipping in with eight points.

Junior Katie Farr (Rindge, N.H.) scored 17 points for the Lasers, going 4-for-7 from behind the arc, while freshman Kim Archibald (Lewiston, Me.) posted a double-double, scoring 13 points and collecting 11 boards.

The Rams had control for most of the game including early on as they went on a 14-0 run in the first eight minutes of play to push their lead to 19-5 at the twelve minute mark. The Rams would be able to push the margin to as large as 18 on several different occasions.

The Rams managed to take advantage of the opportunities given to them. Suffolk forced 27 Laser's turnovers in the game scoring 23 points off turnover. Despite both teams' being even in the rebound department at 46, the Rams held a 22-10 advantage on second chance points.

Both teams will continue Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play this week. The Lasers will be back in action on Tuesday as host Pine Manor College at 7:00pm. The Rams will travel to Standish, Maine to take on St. Joseph's College at 7:30pm on Tuesday.
