Vienneau Leads Rams to 80-70 Win

Sophomore Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) tied a career-high with 20 points as the Suffolk University Rams (9-6 overall) rolled to an 80-70 victory over the Framingham State University Rams (9-9 overall). The win now extends to Rams home winning streak to six games as they move to 9-6 overall on the season.

Vienneau nearly missed a triple-double as the sophomore guard also had eight rebounds and five assists in the contest.

With a seven point lead with two minutes remaining at 65-58, Suffolk would go 15-for-20 from the free-throw in the closing minutes, including a span of 12 shots made in a row to put away the visitors.

Freshman Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) finished the game with 17 points and six rebounds, while junior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) had 12 points and sophomores Dominique Demar (Colchester, Conn.) and Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) each had 11 points as Suffolk finished with five players reaching double-digit totals in scoring.

Sophomore Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) and freshman Cassie Liston (Stoneham, Mass.) both scored 15 points each to lead Framingham State. Minor finished the game recording a double-double as she led all rebounders in the game with 15.

A back and forth first half would see nine lead changes as both teams came out shooting with hot hands. Suffolk shot 46.7 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, connecting on six of 13 shots from beyond the arc to build a 36-31 lead going into the break.

Suffolk would build their lead to its largest margin at 16 points when Vienneau connected on one of her four treys in the game with ten minutes remaining to make it 57-41.

Framingham State would cut the lead down to six points with two and a half minutes remaining as they started to press the Rams, but Suffolk's clutch free-throw shooting secured the win.

Junior Emily Clark (Melrose, Mass.) had four blocked shots in the game for the visitors, including scoring 10 points, while freshman Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) also added 13 points for the visiting Rams.

Framingham State will be back in action on Saturday as they host Fitchurg State University in MASCAC action at 1:00pm. Suffolk will host Mount Ida College in GNAC action this Thursday evening at the Regan Gymnasium at 7:00pm.
