Women’s Basketball Heads to Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament This Weekend
The Suffolk women’s basketball team treks to Mahwah, New Jersey, over the weekend to compete at Ramapo’s Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament. The Rams open the tournament versus Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) Friday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. and will either face tournament hosts Ramapo or York Saturday Nov. 18.

LAST TIME OUT
Trailing by 10 with 2:14 to play, Suffolk women's basketball made a late push and came within three, but could not complete the comeback as the Rams fell to Salve Regina, 52-50, in their season opener Wednesday evening at the Rodgers Recreation Center.
IN WITH THE NEW
Head coach Ed Leyden brought in six true freshmen; Mya Blazejowski,, Gabriella DeComo, Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Jordan Hipwell, Stephanie Langlais and Rachel LaSaracina. The Class of 2012 looks to make an immediate impact for the Rams.

OPENING NIGHT NOTES
- Jenni-Rose DiCecco made the most of her collegiate debut with a 21-point effort, shooting 9-for-16 from the field with a trio of triples. The rookie played all 40 minutes and added three boards, two steals and one assist in her first game in blue-and-gold.
- Georgia Bourikas contributed her 37th double digit point performance, notching 15 points thanks to an impressive 7-for-8 showing from the free throw line. The senior added six rebounds, four steals, a pair of dimes and one block.
- Alexis Hackett anchored Suffolk's 31-reoubnd effort, pulling down 10 caroms, including seven on the defensive end with the sophomore chipping in five points.
- Suffolk opened up its campaign on the road for the seventh straight season.
BEARS BREAKDOWN
Similar to Suffolk, St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) fell in its season opener, losing to Staten Island, 88-53.
The Bears received a 21-point showing from Victoria Porcasi to lead the way with the guard grabbing seven boards. Kelly O'Donnell joined Porcasi in double digits with 12 points. Lauren Quesada pulled down nine rebounds to pace St. Joseph's on the glass.
Thomas Flahive is in his third season as the Bears head coach.

RECORD WATCH
Georgia Bourikas looks to stamp her name in the Rams' record book this season. The senior is just 264 points shy of the coveted 1,000-point milestone. The guard from Hull, Massachusetts, also looks to move her current fourth-place standing on the all-time treys made list with 107 up, while she also has the chance to seal up spots on the all-time assists (156) and blocks (28) list.
