Women’s Basketball Tests Streak at Framingham State Saturday

BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team takes its four-game win streak on the road Saturday, Dec. 9 as the Rams head to Framingham State for a 1 p.m. tip-off.

LAST TIME OUT
Georgia Bourikas knocked down 30 points to lead the Suffolk women's basketball charge out of the locker room and secure secured a 69-61 victory over non-conference foe Fitchburg State at Parkinson Gymnasium Thursday night.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk's fourth consecutive victory improved to the Rams to 6-2 on the season, marking the best start through eight games since matching that ledger to lift the lid on the 2012-13 slate. 

Georgia Bourikas and Jenni-Rose DiCecco continue to propel the Rams' 67.0 ppg offense. Bourikas, a senior guard, leads the way with 14.3 ppg, while her counterpart, a freshman floor general, provides 13.4 ppg. Bourikas is the Rams' biggest threat from deep, knocking down 40.6 percent of her attempts from three-point land, while DiCecco has set-up the most shots, leading the squad with 4.5 dimes per outing. Alexis Hackett (9.9 ppg) and Jordan HIpwell (8.3 ppg) also add spark to Suffolk's offense. 

Defensively, Hackett's impressive 11.5 rpg paces the pack and sits third in the GNAC. Bourikas and DiCecco each average 5.6 rpg, while Hipwell adds 5.4 rpg to the Rams' 42.5 rpg.

FRAMINGHAM FACTS
Framingham returned to the win column Thursday night as the Rams bested Suffolk's conference counterpart Anna Maria, 93-65, to improve to 4-3 on the season. 

Ragan Mulherin is the main offensive threat with the senior guard tallying 14.6 ppg. Mary Kate O'Day also contributes double digits to FSU's 68.4 ppg with the sophomore adding 12.6 ppg. 

Tiphani Harris is a force on the boards for the Rams as the junior forward pulls down 10.3 rpg. Mallory DeFeo and O'Day help out with 6.0 rpg and 5.3 rpg, respectively.

THE SERIES
Suffolk boasts a 20-14 all-time record versus Framingham State. Last season, the blue-and-gold Rams took down FSU 61-50 in Beacon Hill.

30 POINTS AND TWO YEARS AGO
Georgia Bourikas career-high 30-point night at Fitchburg State Dec. 7 marks the most points since Chelsea Campellone was two points shy of the program-record (45) with a 43-point outing in a 85-63 win versus Lasell Jan. 23, 2016. Bourikas scoring frenzy came majorly in the second half with 26 of her 30 points notched over the second set of 20 minutes. On the night, the senior co-captain shot 11-for-18 from the field, went 50 percent (5-10) from downtown and 3-for-3 at the charity stripe. 

THREE DOUBLE-DOWN
Georgia Bourikas, Jenni-Rose DiCecco and Alexis Hackett each produced double-double efforts in the 69-61 win at Fitchburg State. The trio are the first three Rams to notch a double-double in the same game in Suffolk's game-by-game record books, which dates through the 2008-09 season. Bourikas and DiCecco each recorded their second collegiate double-doubles with the former grabbing her first in her senior season. Hackett, meanwhile, has been a force on either end throughout the year bringing her double-double total to five.
RECORD WATCH
Georgia Bourikas looks to stamp her name in the Rams' record book this season. The senior is just 165 points shy of the coveted 1,000-point milestone. The guard from Hull, Massachusetts also looks to move her current fourth-place standing on the all-time treys made list with 120 up, while she also has the chance to seal up spots on the all-time assists (166) and blocks (29) list.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk will wrap up first semester play Tuesday, Dec. 12 when the women's team opens a Rams basketball doubleheader with a 5 p.m. battle with Emerson. The men's squad will close the night at 7 p.m. against UMass Boston.
