Rematch Sends Women’s Basketball to Saint Joseph’s (Maine) Tuesday

BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team makes the trip to Standish, Maine, Tuesday, Feb. 6 for a rematch with undefeated GNAC powerhouse Saint Joseph's (Maine). Game time at the Harold Alfond Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Alexis Hackett's 17-point, 17-rebound double-double effort paced the Suffolk women's basketball team to a 65-56 GNAC victory at Mount Ida Saturday afternoon.

RAMS RUNDOWN
With four games remaining on the regular season slate, the 16-5 overall Rams, who boast a 9-3 league ledger, look to seal up playoff position as the blue-and gold currently sit in fourth place in the conference standings. 

Suffolk has put together the fourth-best offense in the league with 69.8 ppg behind a trio of Rams in double figures in Jenni-Rose DiCecco (14.3 ppg), Georgia Bourikas (14.2 ppg) and Alexis Hackett (10.9 ppg). 

Defensively, the Rams rank sixth with 41.8 rpg, out rebounding their opponents by a 4.2 rpg margin, which is good for third in the league. Individually, Hackett sits third in the conference and first on the team with 10.6 rpg. Bourikas adds 6.4 rpg to the effort with Jordan Hipwell (6.2 rpg) and DiCecco (5.1 rpg) also contributing on the glass.

MONKS MENTIONABLES
Since its comeback thrilling win over the Rams Jan. 27, Saint Joseph's continues to be on a tear throughout the league and ran its win-streak to a program-record 19 straight to hold a 20-1 overall mark and 14-0 league ledger heading into Tuesday's tilt.  The Monks last and lone loss this season came to Babson Nov. 17 by a score of 81-64. 

SJC holds the most potent offense in the league putting in 76.3 ppg as a team. Four different players provide double figures paced by Kelsi McNamara's 17.5 ppg. Julia Champagan and Emily Benway sit second and third on the squad with 12.4 ppg and 12.2, respectively, while Hannah Marks' 11.3 ppg rounds out the foursome. 

The Monks defense, meanwhile, grabs 41.0 rpg, which ranks ninth in the conference, however St. Joe's rebounding margin of 9.0 is the league's best. Benway is the main threat on the boards with the forward pulling down 7.0 with Champagane (5.4 rpg) and Regan McFerran (5.1 rpg) adding to the effort.

WE MEET AGAIN
The Suffolk women's basketball team fell victim to foul trouble and Saint Joseph's (Maine) took advantage with a powerful fourth frame powered by Kelsi McNamara to come back and take down the Rams, 82-79, Jan. 27 inside Regan Gymnasium.

THE SERIES
St. Joe's took the lead (8-7) in the all-time series with its 82-79 victory over the rams in Boston Jan. 27. Suffolk has now fallen to the Monks in four consecutive meetings and looks for its second-ever victory over SJC in Maine.

EYES ON THE GAME

BOURIKAS BREAKDOWN
Georgia Bourikas worked her way into the Rams' record book with her 1,000th-point Feb. 1, becoming the 14th Ram to do so in women's basketball history and first since Iliana Quadri '14 accomplished the feat in 2014. 

Along the way, the senior co-captain has written her name on multiple scoring lists as she sits third in three-point field goals made (137) and 10th in free throws made (202). Fans can also find the Hull, Massachusetts, product's name on the all-time assists list (8th; 204). 

Bourikas has another chance to make history as well, as the 5-foot-8 guard looks to become just the 10th Ram to score 1000 points and pull down 500 rebounds with the fine arts major currently holding 493 career caroms.
