BIDDEFORD, Maine – Colby Guinta of the Suffolk women's basketball team repeated as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after her offensive output in the Rams' 75-72 victory over MIT November 21, the league office announced Monday.
Guinta, a freshman from Manchester, New Hampshire, poured in a career-high 25 points behind a 9-for-11 effort from the floor, which included a 3-for-4 showing from downtown to pace Suffolk to its ninth-ever triumph against the Engineers. She added one rebound and one steal to her stat line.
The accolade is the second straight for Guinta and second of the rookie's collegiate career. She is responsible for half of the blue-and-gold's four weekly distinctions this year with Amanda DeAngelis owning the other two in CCC Player of the Week (Nov. 21) and New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly First-Team (Nov. 23).
Following a few days rest for the Thanksgiving holiday, Guinta and the Rams now turn their sights to their CCC calendar that begins Wednesday, Nov. 30 against Western New England. Tip-off at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
