Women’s Basketball Picked Sixth in CCC Preseason Poll

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball has been selected to finish sixth in the nine-team Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), per the league's preseason coaches' poll released Tuesday.

Entering the 30th season in the Ed Leyden era, the Rams received 37 points to slid into sixth ahead of Nichols (27), Curry (20) and Wentworth (12).

Roger Williams, the two-time defending CCC Champion, was almost unanimous first-place prediction as the Hawks received all, but one first-place pick. University of New England was 10 points behind the Hawks in second, while Western New England, who received the remaining first place pick, sat in third with 62 points.

Endicott (58) and Gordon (40) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Suffolk has been one to prove preseason projections wrong, making the league's postseason in 27 consecutive campaigns, including the last two in the CCC.

The Rams will lean on returners Amanda DeAngelis (16.2 ppg, 10.4  rpg), Maddie Stewart (11.0 ppg), Colby Guinta (9.6 ppg) and Madi Mahoney (7.5 pp) to lead the way.

First tip of the 2023-24 Suffolk women's basketball campaign is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 8 versus Emerson at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court at 5 p.m.
