BOSTON – Allison Bono's first collegiate double-double led Suffolk women's basketball over Salve Regina 65-48 on Wednesday evening at Larry E. Smith and Michael S. Smith Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bono helped the Rams settle in early. The junior tallied eight points and three rebounds in the opening frame, including six straight that closed the quarter, to give the host a 21-17 lead.
- Suffolk turned up the defensive intensity in the second stanza as it forced four Salve Regina turnovers. The Rams closed the half on an 8-2 run over the final 4:33 fueled by five points from Ava Thurman to take a 29-20 advantage into the locker room.
- After the Seahawks opened the third quarter with a layup, Suffolk responded with a 7-0 spurt behind an Ariana Ingram 3-pointer and layup to extend the margin to a dozen, 36-24, at the 8:04 mark. Salve Regina answered with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to three, but Olivia Verdile drained a timely triple to send the Rams into the final quarter up 43-37.
- The Rams opened the fourth on an extended 10-2 spurt, with four different players contributing baskets, forcing a Salve timeout with Suffolk ahead 51-41. Out of the break, the Rams closed strong, finishing on a 14-7 surge highlighted by eight points from Thurman and six from Jordan Moreau to seal a 65-48 victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Moreau led the scoring charge with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go along with three rebounds and two assists.
- Bono collected a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double, to go along with one block and one steal each.
- Thurman added 15 points on 9-of-12 connection rate from the charity stripe.
- Verdile was effective on both sides of the ball as she collected nine points and three steals.
- Suffolk held Salve Regina to 28.4 percentage (19-67) from the field and 11.8 connection rate (2-17) from beyond-the-arc.
NOTEWORTHY
- Bono recorded her first collegiate double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds).
- The 12 rebounds marked a new career-high for Bono, who has grabbed at least eight rebounds in every game this season.
- Thurman set a new career-best with 15 points.
- Moreau's 17 points tied her career-high.
- Verdile recorded a personal-best three steals and tied a career-record with seven rebounds.
- Suffolk and Salve Regina met for the 16th time.
- The Rams evened the all-time series at 8-8 with their first win over the Seahawks since Nov. 21, 2023, a 97-93 overtime triumph.
- Suffolk moved to 4-3 against the Seahawks inside the Ridgeway Building.
- Under head coach Ed Leyden, the blue-and-gold is 8-6 versus Salve Regina.
- Suffolk has won the first three games of the season for the third consecutive season.
