Bono Selected to NEWBA Weekly First-Team

NEWBA RELEASE

NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. – Allison Bono of the Suffolk women's basketball team earned a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly First-Team, the regional organization announced Tuesday.

The award comes on the heels of a three-game week in which the junior guard averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.67 assists per game to help the Rams off to their best start, 6-0, in program history.

The guard opened the week with a 12-point performance behind a 5-for-8 performance from the floor with six caroms, three takeaways, three assists and one block in the 63-58 win at Salem State.

Two days later, the Chester, New York native provided 18 points on a 9-for-17 effort from the field with five boards, five dimes and one steal in the narrow 67-66 triumph over Coast Guard.

To wrap up the week, Bono supplied a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double, the second of her collegiate career and of the season, to the 54-49 victory at Wheaton.

The regional weekly distinction is the first of Bono's career and first time a Ram was selected to the NEWBA weekly squad since Amanda DeAngelis garnered the feat with a spot on the second team Dec. 5, 2024.

Bono and the Rams are back in action tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 25 when they entertain Lasell at 6:00 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.
