BEVERLY, Mass. – Krisna Mahendran of the Suffolk women's golf team garnered Conference of New England (CNE) Golfer of the Week for the second time in as many weeks thanks to her performance at the Westfield State Invitational.
With the recognition, not only does Suffolk own both CNE Golfer of the Week accolades in the conference's history of the sport, but both have been awarded to Mahendran.
The sophomore scooped up her second honor this season, and sixth weekly accolade of her collegiate career, as she topped the 34-golfer field at the Westfield State Invitational at the Tekoa Country Club with a card of 74 (+3) on the par-71, 5,597-yard course. The Katy, Texas' native's performance was the best-ever by a Ram on the Tekoa Country Club links in the program's 10-year history.
Mahendran anchored Suffolk to a first-place performance in the team event as the Rams combined for a 321 (+37). That effort marked the best team showing at Tekoa C.C. for the blue-and-gold in program history with Sunday's action being the sixth time that Jay Parker's team competed on the greens in Western Massachusetts.
Suffolk and Mahendran will take a week off from competition before it heads to Wintonbury Hill Golf Course in Bloomfield, Connecticut Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Hartford Tri-Match.
