Five Women’s Hockey Student-Athletes Garner AHCA All-America Scholar Honors
After its inaugural campaign, five members of the Suffolk women’s hockey team earned “Krampade All-American Scholars” honors as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
BOSTON – After its inaugural campaign, five members of the Suffolk women's hockey team earned "Krampade All-American Scholars" honors as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
The AHCA has acknowledged success in the classroom with the Krampade All-American Scholars program since the 2017 campaign. The recognition is handed out to those student-athletes who achieve a cumulative 3.6 grade-point average and participate in 40 percent of its teams' contests over the 2018-19 season. In its third year, overall 963 names across Division II/III men and women garnered the honor, joining 497 of their Division I counterparts for a total of 1,450 student-athletes recognized, upstaging last year's total of 1,310.
On the conference level, the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) saw 35 student-athletes earn the accolade with Suffolk providing five of those names; Sierra Donahue, Molly Dowd, Molly Hitchens, Emily Johnston and Jesse Kennedy. The Rams, who earned the distinction, made history as the first to do so in program history.
