BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's ice hockey senior captain Jenna Caballero has been named Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the Week, and junior goaltender Katelyn Michals earned CNE Goaltender of the Week following a 1-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday.
The Rams rebounded from a tough loss to No. 4 Middlebury with a thrilling 3-2 victory over No. 6 Endicott on Saturday, marking Suffolk's first win over a ranked opponent since November 22, 2022, when the Rams defeated then-No. 13 Gulls, 2-1 in overtime.
Caballero scored twice in the upset, including the game-winning goal with just 16.7 seconds remaining. Her performance earned her first career CNE weekly honor and makes her the first Suffolk player to receive the award since Bella Schmidt won it January 27, 2025.
Michals anchored the Rams' defense in Beverly, Massachusetts, with 39 saves, posting a .951 save percentage. The junior goaltender's performance marked her third CNE Goaltender of the Week recognition this season, making her the first Suffolk player to earn three weekly goaltender awards in a single season since Kristen Caporusso '20, who won New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goaltender of the Week honors on three separate occasions during the inaugural 2018-19 season.
Suffolk looks to keep its momentum rolling when it hosts No. 15 Colby on Tuesday, Jan. 13, with puck drop scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
