Women’s Ice Hockey Skates into CNE Postseason as Fifth Seed

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | 2026 CNE WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT BRACKET

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's ice hockey locked up the fifth seed in the upcoming Conference of New England Tournament.

The postseason push will be the second straight and program's fifth overall. The Rams have moved onto the semifinals three times and the championship twice and captured one title, in 2023.

Suffolk compiled a 6-17-2 overall record and 6-10-2 conference mark, good for 21 points and the fifth seed. It'll be the second time in program history and in as many years that the blue-and-gold will compete in a conference postseason in the fifth spot.

Postseason play commences for the fifth-seeded Rams at fourth seed the University of New England in the first round Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7:00 p.m.

The Nor'Easters earned the fourth seed with a 6-11-1 league ledger, good for 23 points. Overall, UNE went 10-14-1.

Suffolk sits 7-8-3 all-time against the University of New England. The Nor'Easters have commanded the series as of late as the Rams have six straight setbacks in the series including three shutouts this season. Wednesday's action will be the second battle in the postseason, first since the 2023 semifinals where the Rams blanked UNE, 6-0, in Eastie. The blue-and-gold will compete in the league's tournament in Biddeford, Maine. On the road, Suffolk is 3-3-3 against the Nor'Easters.

The winner between Suffolk and UNE will head to Beverly, Massachusetts Saturday, Feb. 28 for a semifinal showdown with top-seed Endicott.

On the flip side of the bracket, sixth seed Curry and third seed Johnson & Wales battle in a rematch of the 2025 First Round. Second seed Western New England awaits the victor of the action between the Colonels and Wildcats.

Championship action is scheduled between the two remaining teams at the highest remaining seed Saturday, March 7 with the league's automatic qualifier to the 2026 NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Tournament up for grabs.
