Colburn Collects CNE Rookie of the Week

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Ally Colburn of the Suffolk women's lacrosse team was once again recognized by the league as she earned Conference of New England Rookie of the Week. The award comes behind a 15-point week in which the freshman helped Suffolk to a 1-1 week.

Colburn opened the week with four goals and one assist in the 14-8 setback against the University of New England. Three days later, the Branford, Connecticut product, poured in 10 goals to help Suffolk snap a three-game skid with a 18-15 victory over Gordon.

The attackman has produced at least one point in all 14 of the Rams games this season and has produced four or more goals in the last 13 en route to her third weekly collegiate honor, second rookie of the week, first since March 24, that same day she was named the league's best offensive player. It is the third straight week that a Suffolk student athlete was named the conference's rookie of the week and fourth time this season a Ram took home the honor. Colburn is responsible for half of the blue-and-gold's weekly awards, while Julia Dickinson and Zoe Peckham earned the honor March 3 and March 24, respectively.

Colburn has been instrumental to Suffolk's 7-7 overall record and 3-3 league ledger with a team-best 70 goals, which rank fourth in the NCAA Division III this season, and 83 points, good for not only the top spot on the team, but the ninth best in DIII this year.

Suffolk is back in action this Wednesday, April 16 at Endicott at 7:00 p.m.
