Women’s Lacrosse Bested by Roger Williams, 17-6

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's lacrosse fell to Conference of New England (CNE) counterpart Roger Williams, 16-6, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Roger Williams poured in five goals to get the game underway. Lauren Woods eliminated the shutout as she found the back of the cage with no help with 3:27 remaining in the first frame. The teams traded goals over the final minute with Carley Ehwa responsible for the second Rams strike of the day to make it a four-goal, 6-2, margin with the first 15 minutes in the books. 
  • Allie Shamberg potted a pair of goals over 19-second span just over three minutes into the second stanza to extend the Hawks' advantage to six. Charlotte Goodman managed to sneak a goal on the board with four seconds left before halftime to send Suffolk into the break down five, 8-3. 
  • The teams traded goals over a 41-second straight with five minutes removed from the third before the Hawks rattled off three unanswered to make things lopsided, 12-4.
  • Less than a minute into the fourth Roger Williams flirted with a double-digit margin as it went up nine. Back-to-back unassisted Jessie Le goals, meanwhile, trimmed the deficit to seven, 13-6. It was all Hawks the rest of the way as the visitors put away four straight for the 17-6 final. 

GOALIE GLANCE

  • Charlotte Guziejka had seven saves in the back.
  • Aizza Chase denied four shots in the victory.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Le had a hand in four of Suffolk's six goals. She scored two herself and assisted on two others. The junior added one draw control. 
  • Woods had an all-around effort of one goal, three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. 
  • Goodman, Peckham and Ehwa added one goal each. Goodman and Ehwa added one ground ball apiece. 
  • Kate Carlon contributed two ground balls and two caused turnovers.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk hosted Roger Williams for the first time. 
  • Le (9 games, 23 points), Wooods (3 games, 3 points) and Ehwa (3 games, 6 points) all extended their point streaks. 
  • Peckham has produced at least one point in every game this season.
