Women’s Soccer Tops Framingham State on Senior Day, 9-1

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer sent its upperclassmen off in style as the Rams ran past Framingham State, 9-1, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.  

Prior to the first kick, Suffolk recognized and honored the playing careers of Charli Adams, Chelsea Fallon, Kylie Flynn, Jazmya Harris, Angel Hoye, Catherine Madden, Grace Owens, Maci Pekmezian, Kylie Perron, Bradyn Radford and Annabel Veale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk wasted little time getting on the board as the upperclassmen took over from the get-go. Madden controlled the ball on the right hand side of the net and found a diving Pekmezian on the opposite corner for a one-timer to the back of the net 1:08 into the action.  

Madden played a role in Suffolk's second strike of the game as the senior set-up Harris in the 18th minute to double the distance to 2-0.  

Makena Columbus etched her name on the scoresheet with a goal of her own with just over 10 minutes to go before halftime. She used help from Molly Knight to extend Suffolk's advantage to 3-0, which remained when the teams went to the locker room.  

Suffolk stretched the margin even further in the 54th minute. Fallon scored on a cross from Isa Peraza to make it 4-0 Boston Rams.  

The visitors capitalized on a Suffolk own goal off a corner kick to sneak onto the scoreboard.  

The host Rams poured in five unanswered the rest of the way to seal the victory.  

Peraza played a part in the next two Suffolk's scores. First, she set-up Lily Goldman along with Malia Young at 61:51 mark. Less than two minutes later the sophomore scored herself on her own rebound to turn it into a 6-1 lopsided cushion for Suffolk. 

From there, Harris potted her second of the afternoon with help from Adams at the 76:19 minute. Two minutes later Harris took on the assist role to feed Madden for her first collegiate goal and Pekmezian was in the right place at the right time to score Madden's cross to extend the margin to 9-1 with just under five minutes remaining in regulation, which remained at the final horn.  

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Sophia Barker secured the win with a one-save effort. 
• Madison Magone took the loss with a seven-save performance.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Suffolk saw 10 players record at least one point.
• The Rams' graduating class was responsible for six goals and five assists. 
• Madden led the way with one goal and three helpers. 
• Harris had two goals and one handout.
• Peraza produced one goal and a pair of assists. 
• Pekemezian scored two goals. 
• Columbus, Fallon and Goldmann added one goal each.
• Knight dished out two assists. 
• Adams and Young logged one assist apiece. 
• Suffolk commanded the pace of play. The hosts outshot Framingham State, 25-5, including a 16-2 shots on goal differential.
• The Boston Rams took nine corners compared to the visiting Rams two.  

NOTEWORTHY

• Suffolk won its fifth straight game, which marks the longest win streak for the blue-and-gold since winning five games Oct. 8-17, 2016.
• The nine goals scored are the most for Suffolk since it scored 10 in a 10-0 triumph at Mass. Maritime Sept. 9, 2019.
• The eight-goal margin of victory is the largest for the blue-and-gold since blanking Fisher, 8-0, Sept. 30, 2021.
• Suffolk remains unbeaten all-time against Framingham State. 
• The Boston Rams improved to 3-0-0 all-time versus FSU.
• At home, Suffolk is 2-0-0 against Framingham State.
• It was the first non-shutout between Suffolk and Framingham State
• The blue-and-gold is 2-0-0 versus FSU under Ellie McDougall's guidance. 
• Madden recorded her first collegiate point. She finished with one goal and three assists.
• Madden's five points in a single game are the most by a Ram in the McDougall era, and most since Aislinn Servaes notched six on three goals in a 6-0 win at Eastern Nazarene Sept. 21, 2021.
• Madden's three assists, meanwhile, mark the most handouts by a Suffolk student-athlete since Jennifer Martin set-up three shots in a 5-3 win over Norwich Sept. 30, 2017. 
• Peraza put up a career-high in points (4) and assists (2) and matched a personal-best in goals (1). 
• Pekmezian scored multiple goals in a single game in a Suffolk uniform for the first time. She finished with a career-best in goals (2) and points (4).
• Knight tallied a personal-high in assists (2) and points (2).
• Knight and Young dished out their first assists of the season. 
• Columbus and Fallon both scored their third goals of the season. 
• Harris potted her first goal of the year and set-up her first shot of the season. She matched a career-high in goals (2), assists (1) and set a personal-best in points (5).
• Adams registered her fourth assist of the season. She has produced one assist in back-to-back games.
• Goldman got her first goal of the season. 
• Barker remains unbeaten in net this season, 2-0-0.
