BOSTON – First-year goalkeeper Arden Rose of the Suffolk women's soccer team was named both Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week after leading the Rams to a 1-0-1 week, the league office announced Monday.
Rose played the full 90 minutes in both games, at UMass Dartmouth and at Emerson, and compiled a perfect 1.000 save percentage. She recorded seven saves against the Corsairs Sept. 2 and three stops versus the Lions four days later. The Fremont, California product held Emerson, who had been averaging five goals per game entering the matchup, off the board to secure her second cleansheet of the week and of her collegiate career. Her performances helped the Rams hold opponents scoreless for the second straight season through the first three games.
The weekly distinction is the first for the Suffolk player and marks the first time a blue-and-gold student-athlete earned both defensive player of the week and rookie of the Week honors in the same week since Sophia Baker accomplished the feat on September 26, 2022. Rose follows Arden Ferrari-Henry, who was the most recent defensive player of the week on September 9, 2024, and Gabriella Duggan, who collected Suffolk's last weekly award Oct. 28, 2024 when she was named CNE Rookie of the Week.
Suffolk and the Rams return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 9 when they lift the lid on their 2025 home slate as Rivier stops by James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park from a 7:00 p.m. tilt.
