Women’s Soccer Returns to United Soccer Coaches Region II Poll

United Soccer Coaches Region II Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For just the second time in program history, Suffolk women's soccer is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Reginal Rankings as the Rams check in at seventh in the latest Region II poll, released Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams matched their highest-ever position after also being slotted seventh in the week two rankings earlier this fall.

Suffolk returned to the poll behind a 2-0-0 week in which the blue-and-gold edged Worcester State, 2-1, on the road Wednesday before rolling to a 6-0 shutout over Curry on Senior Day at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial ParkDaniela Petronio played a key role in the unbeaten week, scoring in both contests, including the game-winner against the Lancers.

The Rams' defensive unit has been among the region's best, conceding only three goals across nine contests, while posting a 6-1-2 ledger and a 2-1-0 mark in Conference of New England (CNE) play.

Suffolk is joined in the regional poll by three other CNE programs with Hartford ranked fourth, Roger Williams fifth, and the University of New England behind the blue-and-gold in eighth.

The Rams look to carry last week's momentum into Wednesday, Oct. 1, when they make the short trip across the city to take on UMass Boston in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
