Rose Recognized as CNE Defensive Player & Rookie of the Week

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Freshman keeper Arden Rose of the Suffolk women's soccer squad was tabbed Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week following a 0-0-2 week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Rose played the full 90 minutes in both conference contests at the University of New England and against Gordon and compiled an unblemished 1.00 save percentage in the scoreless draws. The Fremont, California, native recorded five saves against the Nor'Easters and Fighting Scots.

The back-to-back shutouts brought the first-year's clean sheet total to seven, which is tied for third for a blue-and-gold keeper in a single season with Allison Rodrigues and Emily Joyce, who achieved the feat in 2019 and 2010, respectively. That is not the only goalie's record achieved this season as the duo of Rose (7) and Jaiden Wilds (3) have combined for a program-best 10 shutouts, which rewrites the previous mark of nine held by the 2011 squad that went 9-7-1 overall.

The weekly distinctions are the third and fourth for Rose in her collegiate career and this season as she garnered the same awards Sept. 8. The four weekly nods in a single season are the most for a Ram since Sophia Barker achieved the feat in 2022. With the quartet of honors this year, Rose has now tied Barker as the most weekly decorated player in the CNE era of women's soccer. It is the second straight season that the blue-and-gold scooped up four weekly accolades.

Suffolk and Rose return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 21 when they welcome Johnson & Wales to East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium for a 7 p.m. league tangle.
